The expectations placed upon the neuroscientific mapping of the human brain are enormous. Some scientists claim that they will be able to scan the true nature of man, others claim that they will localise life-threatening diseases in the brain. Reports say that learning can be optimized for an entire lifetime, that the brain is a highly plastic organ, and a number of performance-enhancing brain drugs will soon be available in the marketplace.
15 national and international scientists gave talks during the three days of this interdisciplinary conference. The conference was a public event - well attended by non-experts as well as scholars and scientists.
